Driven to connect the business community on the green

CLEMMONS — The Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce continues to innovate and launch programs and events to educate, promote and connect the business community. From its Small Business Navigators pilot program to assist business owners with the PPP application process and partnership with Forsyth County, Greater Winston-Salem, Inc, and the Kernersville Chamber to distribute PPE to virtual Chamber meetings with sessions addressing topics including entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and harnessing your brainpower.

“Now is the perfect time to host our first golf tourney. This event will give businesses an opportunity to reconnect with each other after months of digging in their heels working to safely re-open for their employees and our community,” said Ditra Miller, CEO of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce.

The tournament will take place on Friday, Oct. 30, at Bermuda Run Country Club’s West Course at 129 Orchard Park Drive in Bermuda Run. Social distancing and masks are required for players and attendees in accordance with the club’s rules and CDC guidelines. In a recent article with Golf Digest magazine, Dr. Charles G. Prober, a professor of pediatrics (infectious diseases) and of microbiology and immunology at Stanford University said, “Golf has got to be one of the safest sports under the current circumstances.”

Team and sponsorship registration are open. The entry fee per golfer is $125 and teams of four cost $450. “We’re excited about the response we received from our members and community partners including Allegacy, Wake Forest Baptist Health, Marzano Capital Group, and Parkway Ford Lincoln,” said Miller.

The planning committee, chaired by Tammy Parks, co-owner of Parks Decorative Hardware and Plumbing and VP of education for the chamber, secured golf pro Walter Hall to be part of the event. Chick-fil-A of Clemmons will provide boxed lunches for the players. Beverages, swag bags and door prizes are also included in the entry fee. All proceeds from the sale of mulligan packages will be donated to the Clemmons Food Pantry.
