Couriering this area this week in 1990 — Kerri Lee Mustin and Robert Joseph Pawlick, both of Clemmons, were married at Victory Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Jack and Anne Mustion of Clemmons and the bridgroom is the son of Carolyn Pawlik, also of Clemmons.

Area Clemmons and Lewisville residents were among winners in the Dixie Classic Fair exhibits. Debbie Crater was the reserve grand champion in the homemade ice cream making contest. She also won first place for cornbread and Sherry Doub of Lewisville won first place for muffins. First-place winners in elementary fine arts and crafts were Robert Leckie of Clemmons for crayon; Brent Hauser of Clemmons for pencil; Brooke Fussell of Clemmons for watercolor and Christopher Black of Clemmons for graphic arts. Amy Clithero of Lewisville won first in elementary fine arts and crafts for her pottery. In house furnishings, firsts went to Lavell Howard of Clemmons for a pieced and appliqued rug; crocheted afghan and best of show to Mary Binkley of Clemmons and first to Anna Parra of Clemmons for a knitted wool afghan.

Emma Lee Furches, of Clemmons, hosted the Fidelis Gamma Chapter as the group finalized plans for Alpha Kappa Week. At the meeting in Emma’s home, senior sorority member Monte Warner, also of Clemmons, was recognized on her birthday with a cake.

Army National Guard Pvt. Jason C. Clark has completed basis training at Fort Jackson, S.C.  Clark is the son of Burnie E. and Kathy G. Clark of Clemmons.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Vanhoy of Clemmons announced the birth of twin daughters, Kate Elizabeth and Emily Ann at Forsyth Hospital. Maternal grandparents are Pansy Tuttle of Clemmons and the late Lewis Tuttle. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Vanhoy of Lewisville.

West Forsyth elected their class offices after run-offs for several positions. Senior class officers are Matt Murray, president; Keely Bowman, vice-president, and Krystal Bailey, secretary/treasurer. Junior officers include Christy Hunt, president; Andre McSwain, vice-president, and Kristen Rossi, secretary/treasurer.  

The Under-10 Girls Clemmons Express soccer team defeated the Superstars 2-0 to remain undefeated. The Express’ first goal was scored by Alison Suber off an excellent centering pass from Ashley Phillips. A second goal was added in the fourth quarter by Kathryn Jenkins with Nameeta Penkar getting the assist.
