Putnam recognized at Rotary’s student of the month

Meggie Putnam was recognized recently as the Rotary Club of Clemmons’ Student of the Month for September.

She is an excellent student with a GPA of 4.6 and ranked No. 2 in her class. She was named an AP Scholar in 2019 and AP Scholar with Distinction in 2020.

Putnam’s school activities have included History Academic Team, Science Honor Society, Care For Kids Club, Crosby Scholars, Science Academic Team, Titan Nimas, West Forsyth cross country/track, West Forsyth National Honors Society and junior marshal/chief marshal 2020.

Outside of school, she has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House Teens with a Heart Program, Carolina Cross Connection, Buddy Walk and Clemmons Food Pantry.

Putnam is also an accomplished musician and has participated with and received recognition in the Winston-Salem Youth Orchestra Program’s Premiere String, Philharmonic, youth symphony, Chamber Music on the Hill — Wake Forest University, Young Performer’s Workshop (Chamber Music Group) and UNCSA Summer Strings.

In addition to involvement with the Winston-Salem Youth Orchestra Program, she has been involved with school-related musical activities including All-County Honors Orchestra; Western Region Orchestra grades: Repertory and Honors programs since the sixth grade and N.C. All State Honors Orchestra. She also is the principal violist at West Forsyth High School. In addition, she attended UNCG Music Camp — principal violist in High School Orchestra and West Forsyth Quartet.

Putnam will be attending college this fall at a northeastern college.
