Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will hold in-person and virtual community meetings about attendance districts that will be redrawn because of a new middle school. Lewisville Middle School is under construction and expected to open for the 2021-22 school year. It was approved as part of the 2016 bond referendum. As lines change to accommodate a student body for Lewisville, changes are also being discussed at two other middle schools — Philo-Hill Magnet Academy and Hanes Magnet Middle.
Students, parents, and staff are encouraged to stop in, visit information stations, talk with district representatives, and give feedback about lines for the new middle school. They can also learn more about the proposed changes at Philo-Hill and Hanes.
If people cannot attend, there is also a webpage on the WS/FCS website where the presentations can be watched, and people are encouraged to share thoughts about changes or submit questions.
The in-person community meeting about Lewisville Middle will be held Nov. 30 at Reagan High. The in-person community meeting about Hanes will be held Dec. 1 at North Forsyth High. The in-person community meeting about Philo-Hill will be held Dec. 2 at Parkland High. Each in-person session will begin at 6 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
The virtual meetings will be live at noon on the WS/FCS Facebook page and WS/FCS Cable 2 on each of the above dates.
More information on the changes and links to the virtual meetings can be found on the district’s website.
