Couriering this area this week in 1971 — John Craft, president of the Lewisville Jaycees, was recently privileged to visit with Jaques Mottier, president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Montreux, Switzerland. They met at the elegant Montreux Palace Hotel, a palatial building erected in 1906.

The Village Business Association held its regular meeting at the Village Restaurant. O’Max Horne, acting vice president, presided over the meeting in the absence of the president, Jim Church. The main item of business was the election of officers for the new year. J. Dodd Linker Jr. was elected president and Mrs. Elsie Black, vice president.

Several seniors at West High School were recently accepted to various colleges. Just a few among them were Donna Conrad, accepted at Radford College, and Terri Moser and Pat Caudle, accepted at Appalachian State University.

Members of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Lewisville United Methodist Church held a luncheon in Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Herbert Reynolds, president, presided during the business session. Mrs. J.D. McPhail read the minutes of the last meeting and Mrs. Thomas Lee Jr., led a group participation program entitled “The Sounds of Christmas.”

The Clemmons Lions Club held their regular meeting at the Village Restaurant. First Vice President Brock Ellis presided and presented his guest and program. Guest, Forsyth County Sheriff Manley Lancaster, gave a program about the existing and future role of a sheriff and a sheriff’s department in the United States.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert G. Burton of Clemmons, announced the birth of their first child, a son, Gregory Dean at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Burton is the former Velma Sink.

A 59-14 victory over Forbush was the way Titan wrestlers opened the season in the West gymnasium. Kevin Cea had the fastest pin in 32 seconds.

Chalmers “June” Bohannon was this week’s player of the week. Bohannon, a 6-foot-2 forward was chosen for his all around play, especially defense, in the Titans’ two victories over Forbush and previously undefeated High Point Andrews.
