What was happening in Clemmons this week in 1979 — Michael Jones was chosen as the Lewisville Citizen of the Year. Jones was a 1967 graduate of West Forsyth and entered the army in 1968, serving 20 months in Okinawa. He became Scoutmaster of Lewisville Troop 752 shortly after his return and received the Scoutmaster of the Year Award in 1972.

The Clemmons Garden Club met last week at the home of Mrs. Myron Ceresa, of Bermuda Run. Preceding the meeting, members enjoyed a Christmas luncheon and exchanged plants and handmade gifts.

The Lewisville Senior Citizens club met last week. The Joy Club of Lewisville opened the meeting by singing Christmas carols, led by Mrs. Ray Lasley with a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Arlington Binkley.

The Annual Christmas luncheon of the Lewisville Garden Club was held at the home of Mrs. Ferdinand Jones of Styers Ferry Road. There were 12 members present and one visitor, Miss Elizabeth Merssick, daughter of Mrs. James E. Messick.

Two Clemmons students, who attend Guilford Technical Institute at Jamestown, have been named to the president’s list with a 4.0 GPA. They are Susan Caudill, of Dogwood Lane, and Terry H. Rogers, of Ranchwood Drive.

Monty Boyer of Troop 736 received his Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor last week at the Clemmons Civic Club. He is the son of Mrs. Lydia Laird and H.M. Boyer, both of Clemmons. Jim Edwards, senior patrol leader, was master of ceremonies.

The Clemmons Masons held an installation meeting recently at West Bend Lodge 434 in Lewisville. Larry Wayne Kirby was installed as new lodge master; Henry A. Hendrix, senior warden; John Boyer, junior warden; Roy Raines, treasurer; and Ronald Dodon as secretary.
