The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education has named Charles McAninch as principal of the new Lewisville Middle School.

McAninch has served as principal of West Forsyth High School since 2012. He originally joined WS/FCS as a teacher at Northwest Middle School in 1994. In between roles with WS/FCS he held numerous school leadership positions across the state. He has a master’s degree from UNC-Greensboro and a bachelor of science from Kent State University.

“Charles McAninch is a leader of the highest quality, said Donna Cannon, WS/FCS area superintendent. “His integrity, strong character, plethora of experience and proven success in our district make him a great fit to open Lewisville Middle School. I am confident that he will be very successful in that role.”

Construction on Lewisville Middle will be complete by July 2021 and the school will open for the 2021-22 school year. It is the first of two new middle schools approved in the 2016 Bond Referendum. Lewisville Middle will provide school capacity relief to Meadowlark and Jefferson middle schools.

The search for a new leader at West Forsyth High School will begin immediately.

McAninch will move into his new role in late January.
