School employees started receiving the vaccine as part of Group 3 of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout on Thursday afternoon at Forsyth County Department of Public Health’s mass vaccination site at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Education Building.

Forsyth County Public Health, Novant Health, and Wake Forest Baptist Health have partnered to vaccinate school employeesWinston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and private schools in Forsyth County are scheduling vaccinations for their employees on a weekly basis. The appointments take place at Forsyth County Public Health’s mass vaccination site at the fairgrounds or at Novant Health’s mass vaccination site at Hanes Mall. Wake Forest Baptist Health provides staffing at the fairgrounds. The number of available appointments for school employees is dependent on local vaccine allocation from the State.

In addition to Public Health’s vaccine allotment, both hospitals contributed vaccine in order to increase the number of school employees who are able to be vaccinated at the fairgrounds last week. The three organizations meet weekly to determine staffing and vaccination needs in order to best serve the whole community.
