The Clemmons-Lewisville COVID-19 Response Team of the Clemmons Community Foundation sent a special treat for all teachers and staff of 10 schools serving the area. For a period of several weeks beginning in late March, the Clemmons-based Abbott’s ice cream truck loaded with homemade ice cream sandwiches is sent to one of the schools, end of school day, with a cheering crowd of community members equipped with signs of thanks and appreciation. These organizations recognize the challenges school personnel have faced over the last year since the pandemic began with regular schedule changes, new methods of teaching required with each schedule change, and adjusting students and parents. In addition to the Clemmons Community Foundation, participating organizations include the Village of Clemmons, the Clemmons Rotary Club, the Interfaith Alliance of Clemmons and Lewisville, the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Lewisville, and the Clemmons Civic Club.
