LEWISVILLE — The Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce hosted its inaugural Tour of Lewisville Bike Event on Saturday, May 22, in Lewisville. The event drew bike enthusiasts and professionals alike to participate in the cycling adventure.

The ride, which included 15-mile, 30-mile and 60-mile routes, was the idea of Meika Imes, community and member relations manager of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. “The Tour of Lewisville 2021 was amazing,” Imes said. “Thank you so much to all our sponsors and cyclists that made this event a success. I’m looking forward to 2022 being even bigger.”

Participants rode across beautiful terrain throughout and around the town with stunning waterfront and hilltop views. They also received complimentary lunches, T-shirts and swag bags. “Y’all did a great job. Thank you for putting it on,” said Lee Reavis, a Tour of Lewisville rider. Another cyclist, Alan Trogdon, commented, “It was very well done.”

Sponsors, riders and volunteers also brought nonperishable goods to support the Lewisville Community Assistance Program. The program is a local food pantry that helps Lewisville residents and families by providing food during tough times.

“To say this event was a success would be an understatement,” said Ditra Miller, CEO of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. “The sea of riders cycling through the starting archway at Shallowford Square was a sight to behold. It gave me butterflies to see hundreds of people come together in this way — happy, energized and supportive.”

“Another huge plus of the event was that it gave exposure to our local businesses and opened the door for participants who didn’t know much about the area to come back again to eat local, shop local and support local.”

Information about next year’s event will be online soon at touroflewisville.com. Businesses interested in sponsoring should contact Meika Imes at meika@lewisville-clemmons.com or call 336-970-5100 ext. 2.
