Willis Hege Foltz

Mr. Willis Hege Foltz, 93, of Clemmons, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center. Foltz was born in Forsyth County to the late Emory Foltz and Carrie Hege Foltz on June 23, 1927. He is a direct descendent of Adam Spach, founder of the Friedberg Community and subsequent church in 1773. He has attended Friedberg Moravian Church his entire life and was the oldest living male member of the Friedberg congregation. Foltz was also a member of the Moravian Band of the Southern Province and played trumpet in the band for 82 years. He was a salesman and owner/co-founder of Piedmont Fence Inc. in Winston-Salem, which started in 1980. He retired in 1994 from the company. He was an avid fisherman who loved to surf cast and pier fish on the North Carolina coast and enjoyed RV traveling in his retirement. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 10 years, Esther Sink Foltz and wife of 52 years, Margaret Hill “Tootie” Foltz; and brother, Hubert E. Foltz. He is survived by daughters, Carrie Foltz West (Norm) and Julia Foltz Hedgecock (Chris); grandsons, Jordan West and Garrett West. Also survived by Joann Hill, companion, and special friend. The family is forever grateful to the team of Christian angels that cared for Foltz during his final months at home: Jo, Lynn, Kym, Sandra, Wendy and Sandy. “Well done, good and faithful servant! Mary Wilma McDaniel Holder

Mrs. Mary Wilma McDaniel Holder, 83, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021, after an extended illness. She was born on July 5, 1937, in Mocksville to Guy “Bill” O. McDaniel and Lillie McClamrock McDaniel. Holder graduated from Davie County High School. She married Gilbert Holder, who died in 2004. Holder was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Mocksville. She retired from Hanes/Sara Lee Corporation after 33 years of service and loved to travel with Singleton Tours. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Sanford Holder. Surviving is brother, George Douglas McDaniel (Susan); niece, Angie Mork (Phil); nephew, Scott McDaniel (Amber); great-nieces, Samantha McDaniel, Savannah McDaniel and Lauren Mork; great-nephews, Alex Mork and Ryan McDaniel; and numerous cousins and in-laws. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Will Pryor officiating. Paul Martin McGrail

Paul Martin McGrail, 77, of Clemmons, died Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

He was born on June 14, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Frank Austin and Anne Zelick McGrail. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lee Sounes McGrail.

Surviving are a son, John McGrail; a sister, Michelle McGrail Middleton; brothers, Thomas McGrail and Jack McGrail; and seven grandchildren.

Luther ‘L.C’ Styers

Luther “L.C” Styers, 77, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was born in Forsyth County on Sept. 28, 1943, to the late Luther and Hazel Styers. Styers was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired assistant vice president of office services from Integon Corporation. After retirement, Styers began working part time as a golf pro, first at Reynolds Park, and then Oak Valley Golf Club. He gave numerous lessons and enjoyed his work around his favorite hobby. In addition to golf, Styers loved watching UNC sports, especially basketball. His favorite color was Carolina blue. He also enjoyed trips to the beach with his family, going “visiting,” classic cars and his church. Styers is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan Styers, daughters; Jennifer Webb (Tim) of Clemmons, and Anna Styers of Winston-Salem, two grandchildren; Sarah Webb (Jesse) of Charlotte and Matthew Webb (Aleksandra) of Crestview, Florida. He had three great-grandchildren, Ava and Claire Webb, and Camdyn Evans. He is also survived by his sister, Shelby Fields of Troy. He is predeceased by his parents Luther and Hazel Styers, sister Lois Hill, and loving dog and best buddy, Scout. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Clemmons Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Christopher Thore officiating. The family received friends following the service. Mildred Ann Transou Wade

Mrs. Mildred Ann Transou Wade, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Wade was born in Forsyth County to the late Rolla Thomas Transou and Lessie Zimmerman Transou on June 10, 1924. She was a longtime member of Calvary Moravian Church, then attending “Come and Worship” in her later years and loved her church family. Wade loved to sing and dance; she took voice lessons at Salem College and went on to study music in New York. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Marshall Wade; one sister and three brothers. She is survived by brother, Toby Transou (Emily); niece, Patti Shew (Russ) and nephew, Tom Transou, and many other family members. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Salem Moravian Graveyard with Rev. Brad Bennett and Rev. Russ May officiating.

Barbara Ann Londell Wheeler

Mrs. Barbara Ann Londell Wheeler, 85, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

While her parents Harold and Eldoris Bellows were stationed in Tokyo, Japan, Wheeler was born on July 16, 1935. She devoted her entire career to the medical field, earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing before serving as a registered nurse at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. In her free time, Wheeler enjoyed going to the beach, painting and singing in the church choir. She loved animals, even Teddy and his barking, and had a great sense of humor, and liked to relax by eating chocolate cake and watching Dr. Phil. In addition to her parents, Wheeler was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Wheeler, and children, Denise Turner and Dennis Turner.

Wheeler is survived by her sons, Robert “Bobby” E. Wheeler Jr. (Colleen) and Patrick T. Wheeler; daughter, Beth Figuracion (Robert); and grandchildren, Savannah Figuracion, Gabriel Figuracion, Faith Figuracion and Emerson Wheeler.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, at Forsyth Memorial Park in the Gazebo.
