The 38th annual race will offer in-person and virtual options on Dec. 4

WINSTON-SALEM — Registration for the most wonderful race of the year is now open.

The 38th Annual YMCA Mistletoe Run is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4, and will once again return to the William G. White Jr. Family YMCA in Winston-Salem. Proceeds from the race will go toward Y programs to address childhood obesity in the community.

Last year’s race was entirely virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am excited to say that this year’s Mistletoe Run is coming back to the Y,” said Stan Law, president and CEO of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina. “It was reassuring to see hundreds of runners sign up for the race virtually in 2020, but nothing beats the sight of runners through the historic West End Neighborhood on that first chilly morning in December.”

This year’s race will offer runners in-person or virtual options for the Half Marathon, 5K and one-mile Fun Run.

“We heard from a lot of runners that they thoroughly enjoyed the virtual race last year, which allowed them to run at the location and time of their choice, but we also heard from so many people who missed the community event aspect of the Mistletoe Run,” said Danielle Boyd, who is the Mistletoe Half Marathon, 5K and Fun Run race director. “We felt that giving runners the option for both was the best decision for 2021.”

The Mistletoe Run is proudly presented by the Bell, Davis & Pitt law firm.
