Billings receives doctorate in pharmacy from UNC Chapel Hill
Joanna R. Billings has recently graduated with distinction with a doctorate degree in pharmacy from UNC Chapel Hill. Billings, a Clemmons native, graduated from West Forsyth High School. Her parents are Tim and Sherrie Billings, also of Clemmons.
Students earn degrees from the University of Vermont
BURLINGTON, VERMONT — Determined to maintain the spirit of joy and optimism that is the hallmark of University of Vermont’s commencement ceremony, but doing so in a safe manner, President Suresh Garimella conferred degrees on graduates at multiple, smaller school and college ceremonies. “Our emphasis will be on celebrating our students. We are very proud of each and every one of them and salute their accomplishment,” Garimella said prior to the ceremonies, which marked the end of a highly successful year of in-person education on the UVM campus. The following local students have earned degrees:

• Devin Spindel of Clemmons — bachelor of science
Munster named to Ohio University’s dean’s list
ATHENS, OHIO — Ohio University College of Business student Alec Munster from Clemmons has been named to the dean’s list at Ohio University for the spring semester.
Due to COVID-19, students who earned 12 semester hours of credit, including at least six hours attempted for letter grades, with a minimum grade point average of at least 3.5 achieved this distinction.
Clemmons resident graduates from James Madison University
HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA — Meghan Meyers of Clemmons graduated with a degree in biology from James Madison University during commencement exercises in May 2021.
Meyers was among more than 3,600 students who received undergraduate, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.
Meyers named to James Madison University dean’s list
HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA — Clemmons resident Meghan Meyers has been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2021 semester. Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Meyers is majoring in biology.
Samford University dean’s list announced
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA — Samford University has named 1,703 students to the dean’s list for the spring semester.
To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean’s list is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester. The following local students have been named to the dean’s list:

• Ella Anderson of Winston-Salem
• Hannah Harris of Winston-Salem
Jackson named to Bridgewater College’s dean’s list
BRIDGEWATER, VIRGINIA — Fletcher C. Jackson, of Lewisville, was named to the Dean’s List at Bridgewater College for spring semester. Jackson is a junior majoring in business administration.
Students on the dean’s list have attained a 3.4 or better grade point average of a possible 4.0. Any student who earned all A’s for a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the 15-week semester is identified with an asterisk by the student’s name.
Cotter named to dean’s list at Lehigh University
BETHLEHEM, PENN. — Dean’s list status, which is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses, has been granted to Zachary Cotter of Clemmons for the spring semester at Lehigh University.
Dean’s, president’s lists named for University of Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA — A total of 11,813 students enrolled during the spring 2021 term at The University of Alabama made the dean’s list with academic records of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale), or the president’s list with academic records of 4.0 (all A’s).
