The Forsyth County Historic Resources Commission (HRC) needs a new member. This appointment is for a resident of Clemmons and will be made by the Village of Clemmons Council.

Enriching and protecting our community’s historic resources is the HRC’s role. This is done primarily by reviewing application for Certificates of Appropriateness in the three local historic districts and for local historic landmarks.

Commissioners also make recommendations and decisions about historic preservation issues throughout Forsyth County, including architectural inventories, historic markers, local historic landmark designations and National Register nominations. The commission is a 12-member body with five members appointed by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners; five by the Winston-Salem City Council; one by the Town of Kernersville; and one by the Village of Clemmons. A majority of the commission members must have demonstrated special interest, experience or education in history, architecture, archaeology or related fields.

The commission meets at 4 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month. Information regarding the work and activities of the HRC can be found on the Historic Resource Commission’s website at www.forsythcountyhrc.org.
