Children’s programs

Pumpkin Search & Find

• Oct. 29-Nov. 5

• Lewisville Branch Library

Search the children’s area for the hidden images. Find them all and get a prize. All ages. Prizes provided by The Friends of the Lewisville Branch Library.

Music & Movement (in-person, outdoors)
• Wednesdays from 10-10:30 a.m.

• Shallowford Square Park, 6555 Shallowford Road, Lewisville

Join in for songs and activities designed to support learning in a fun and engaging way. Recommended for children ages 2-5 years and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Masks are required for those 5 years of age and older. Space is limited to 10 families per program. Email Mia Jordan at jordanmc@forsyth.cc to sign up.

Native American Heritage Month Program: Cherokee Pottery Making (virtual)

• Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Recommended for families, but all ages welcome.

Learn all about Cherokee pottery making with Tina H. Smith from Wake Forest University’s Lam Museum Of Anthropology in honor of Native American Heritage Month. Smith will discuss Cherokee pottery tradition and show the participants how to make a clay pot. A limited number of craft supply packets are available for pickup at the Lewisville Branch Library ahead of the program, but are not required to attend. Teen programs

Teen Advisory Board Meeting (virtual)

• Monday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m.

Lewisville Branch Library’s Teen Advisory Board is made up of Lewisville Branch Library’s teen volunteers (Ages 12-18). The board meets to discuss ways to improve the Lewisville Branch Library’s service to teens. The Teen Advisory Board helps to plan programs, create displays and suggests resources that the library should purchase. Adult programs

Tuesdays at Two Book Club (in person and virtual)

• Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m.

The Tuesday at Two book club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.

November title: “The Clockmaker’s Daughter” by Kate Morton.

Hook & Loop Group (in person and virtual)

• Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Hook & Loop Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m.

• Location: Lewisville Branch Library auditorium

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider and such. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns that will be on hand. All skill levels are welcome. The group shares each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. No formal instruction. Yoga for Beginners (in person and virtual)

• Friday, Nov. 5 and 19, at 9 a.m.

Join in at the Lewisville Branch auditorium or from home for two free yoga sessions to help uplift your mind and body during this stressful time. Color & Coffee meets the second and fourth Friday of each month at 10 a.m. except in November and December. A morning to relax, color, be with others, and enjoy a cup of coffee on the house. Call 336-703-2940 for more information.

Witchy Washi Tape Crafters (in person and virtual)

• Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m.

Join in to learn how to make fun crafts with washi tape. Some supplies will be provided. Supplies limited. Contact the library at 336-703-2940 to register and reserve your packet of supplies.

Genealogy for Native Americans (in person and virtual)

• Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m.

• Location: Lewisville Branch Library auditorium or via Zoom

Do you have or wonder if you have Native American roots? Would you like to learn some tips on how to explore genealogy particular to this group? If so, then you will want to hear what museum educator Tina Smith from Wake Forest University’s LAM Museum of Anthropology has to say. She will discuss the challenges and benefits of exploring Native American genealogy, as well as how to start the process, where to look for records and information, and common resources that are used in research.
