Helen Marie Bodie Ernest

Mrs. Helen Marie Bodie Ernest, 82, of Lewisville passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center. Ernest was born in McCormick County, S.C., to the late William Bodie and Elizabeth Gilmer Bodie on Sept. 4, 1939. She was a wife, mother and homemaker, and was a generous, caring and loving person who loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ernest had a good business mind, which lead her to open a business called “Just Stuff” in Lewisville. She loved to decorate her house and was a wonderful cook. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Ernest is survived by her husband of 64 years this past September, Royce Ernest; children, Tamara Dormer, Royce Ernest Jr. (Janetta), Robert Ernest (Sandra), Vicki Brady and Scott Ernest (Susanne); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Due to COVID-19, the family requests that you practice social distancing and wear a mask. Glenda Dover Martin

Ms. Glenda Dover Martin, 80, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in St. Louis City, Missouri, on July 24, 1941, to the late Manuel and Bessie Garrison Dover. Martin was a member of Redemption Hill Church and was an avid reader of her Bible and many other books. Preceding her in death was a son, Ricky Allen Parkins and a sister, Carolyne Jones. Surviving are sons, John Steve Parkins and Joey Craig Parkins, both of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Marcia Mekis of Clemmons and Myra Perry of Wichita, Kansas; the love of her life, her 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Jason Ledford officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Mark Alan Snipes

Mark Alan Snipes, 62, of Pinnacle passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021. Snipes was born in Winston-Salem on July 26, 1959, to Robert C. and Ann H. Snipes. After graduating from East Forsyth High School and Forsyth Tech, he spent more than 30 years working in the telephone industry for Western Electric, BellSouth and AT&T before retiring in 2012. Snipes enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, shooting guns and hosting a fish fry for family and friends. He was always up for telling a joke and was always friendly with those he met. Everyone that knew him could expect a good laugh when he was around. Snipes was a member of Friedland Moravian Church where he enjoyed serving as an usher.

Snipes was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Snipes. He is survived by his mother, Ann H. Snipes; son, Jayson, daughter, Amber Sheek (Jake), future grandson Harrison, siblings Marianne Smith (Tim) and Bryan Snipes (Karen), several nieces and nephews, and special friend Linda Long. A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Friedland Moravian Church with Revs. John G. Rights and Adam Goodrich presiding. The family received friends following the service. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Friedland Moravian Church, 2750 Friedland Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107, and to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, 27103.
