Every year, Christmas Eve is one of the most joyous celebrations held at Clemmons Moravian Church as the church joins voices with the angels to sing praise to God for the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. This year, the church will have two Christmas Eve candlelight services in the sanctuary at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. At this time, the church is requiring masking and social distancing measures by sitting on every other pew to help protect worshipers. The sanctuary doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and groups will be seated when all are present as no seats may be saved. When the reduced seating capacity is reached, overflow seating in the fellowship hall will be provided along with video and audio livestream.
For those who are out of state or who would prefer to avoid large indoor gatherings, the service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. If you would like to pick up candles to light at home, they will be available in the church office on weekdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 13-22 or after Sunday worship on Dec. 12 and 19.
Although buns and coffee will not be served this year, the worship will include many beloved carols and end with the candlelight singing of “Morning Star.” Even as everyone longs to once again celebrate a full Christmas Eve lovefeast, the church is grateful for how far God has brought everyone and for the opportunity to worship in-person on Christmas Eve.
