Monday, Jan. 17 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day

All ages programs:

Give-a-Kid-a-Coat Drive 

• Jan. 3-Feb. 7

You may drop off a coat from Jan. 3 through Feb. 7 at the Lewisville Branch Library and we will take it to A Cleaner World. A Cleaner World will make minor repairs, clean the coats, and then send them to The Salvation Army for distribution to those in need.

Family Films 

• Friday, Jan. 28 at 3:30 p.m.

Children’s programs

Family Storytime / Music & Movement  

During the months of January and February, the library will be taking a programming break. Storytime will resume again soon. In the meantime, fun in-house activities and take-home crafts will be available. Thank you for your patience.

Snowy Photo Booth

Snowflake Search & Find (in-person, indoors)

Search the Children’s Area for the hidden images. Find them all and get a prize. All ages. Prizes provided by The Friends of the Lewisville Library.

Crafts-to-Go: Lunar New Year

Pick up a Lunar New Year’s craft from the Lewisville Branch Library. Available while supplies last. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library.

Teen programs

Teen Advisory Board Meeting (Virtual) 

• Monday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m.

Lewisville Branch’s Teen Advisory Board is made up of Lewisville Branch’s teen volunteers (ages 12-18). The board meets to discuss ways to improve the Lewisville Branch’s service to teens. The Teen Advisory Board helps to plan programs, create displays, and suggests resources that the library should purchase. High School Prep (virtual) 

• Monday, Jan. 10 at 6-7 p.m.

Recommended for middle school students and their families.

Do you have questions about what high school will be like? Get your questions answered by our panel of high school students. They will discuss their experiences at various local high schools and answer questions. Tuesdays at Two Book Club (in-person and virtual)

The Tuesday at Two book club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.

Hook & Loop Group (in-person and virtual) 

• Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m.

• Lewisville Branch auditorium

The Hook & Loop Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m.

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider and such. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns that will be on hand. All skill levels are welcome. The group shares each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. No formal instruction. Limited to 14. MED Instead of MEDS (in-person) 

• Six-week series continues on Thursdays from noon-1 p.m.

• Jan. 6, Jan. 13, Jan. 20

The Lewisville Branch joins with North Carolina Cooperative Extension agent Virginia Lopez to learn seven simple steps to eating the Mediterranean Way. This will include mindful eating, meal planning, label reading, right-sizing proportions, and being mindful about physical activity. There will also be a cooking demonstration by Forsyth County’s Chef Floyd Davis at the end of each session. Participants may attend in person in the library auditorium to view Lopez’s presentation on our projection screen. Either way, you won’t want to miss learning about the ‘Med Way’ to a healthier lifestyle. To register, call 336-703-2940.

Yoga for Beginners (in-person and virtual)

Join in at the Lewisville Branch auditorium or from home for two free yoga sessions to help uplift your mind and body during this stressful time. Color & Coffee (in-person)

Color & Coffee meets the second and fourth Friday of each month at 10 a.m. except in November and December. A morning to relax, color, be with others, and enjoy a cup of coffee on the house. Call 336-703-2940 for more information.

Witchy Washi Tape Crafters (in-person)

Lewisville Branch’s 2022 Reading Challenge 

• Logs due Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022

Take the yearlong reading challenge for your chance to win a $25 gift card to Bookmarks. The challenge has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both challenges. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if you read both Beginner and Aficionado challenges, you’re entered three times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. The winner will be announced Monday, Dec. 12.
