Clyde Neal Beauchamp

Clyde Neal Beauchamp, 69, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness. Beauchamp, a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, was born in Forsyth County to the late Clyde Gray Beauchamp and Edna Pfaff Beauchamp on May 23, 1952.

No matter what you called him — Bud, Unc, or Deddy — Beauchamp was loved by everyone who knew him. He was the life of the party, and dearly cherished hosting all of his family and friends for his Thanksgiving chicken stew. Whether it was keeping the fire going under the pot, arguing about NASCAR, or popping his teeth out to hear Gavin howl, he always had a smile on his face and made sure everyone around him did.

Beauchamp told everyone he knew that he never worked a day in his life, even though he accomplished more before 6 a.m. than most did in a week. He loved to read the Winston-Salem Journal, grab a pack of Nabs at the gas station, and swing by for a biscuit from Biscuitville. Then the fun really cranked up, when he worked all day at Lewisville Motor Company. Hired by Herb Myers more than 50 years ago, Beauchamp loved Herb, Marty, and the whole crew like they were family, and the feeling was mutual. After work, Beauchamp couldn’t sit still; he loved to raise a garden, mow the yard, and work on cars in his garage. This love for mechanic work was on full display when he slung wrenches, and maybe a few fisticuffs, for the No. 69 Junior Miller team at Bowman-Gray Stadium.

His family will miss him dearly, whether it’s family gatherings or long talks on the phone. He will also be missed on the phone by his good friend Tobie with Ruthie’s Technological Support Services.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Wayne (Pat) and sisters, Peggy (Hobe), Linda (Earnest), Sue, Lois (Ronald), and Helen. He is survived by his children, Scott Beauchamp (Jennifer) and Nealise Queen (Jason); grandchildren, Braedon, Brinleigh, Patrick, Collin, Jake and Tucker; great-grandchild, Karsyn; and sister, Linda Ayers. Michael Lee Berrier

Michael Lee Berrier, 62, of Clemmons passed away at his home on Jan. 7, 2022. Berrier was born April 15, 1959, and raised in Little Creek, Winston-Salem. He was a well-known barber and hair stylist in Winston-Salem and Lexington since 1979. He was best known as a blues musician and had many followers. Berrier, along with his band, “The Fabulous Thermatones” performed throughout N.C. and as far as Ireland. Berrier, known as “Fat Mike” was well liked by many. He developed many friends within the music industry, playing with famous musicians throughout the states. Berrier wanted to share these last thoughts: He lived a good life. He loved his friends and he wanted to convey to everyone that you meant something to him. He wants everyone to know that he was ready to be with Jesus in heaven where he could live without pain. Berrier was preceded in death by his daughter, Cori McDonald-Dienes; two infant grandchildren, Nori Dienes and Dean Dienes; father, Calvin L. Berrier; sisters, Laura Berrier and Jan Robinson; and brother-in-law, Dale Robinson. He leaves behind grandsons, Carter Phillips, Leo Dienes and Roman Dienes; mother, Catherine Duffy and stepfather, James Duffy; sister, Suzanne Simpson-Vogler (Fred); brother, Phillip Berrier; stepmother, Jean Berrier; and stepsisters, Ann Harrington, Karen Reisburg, and Linda Duffy; also, many cousins, nieces and nephews, along with an extended family. In addition, he leaves behind his dearest friend, “Cheyenne Da Dawg” who has helped in many ways throughout the past years as a true loyal friend and companion. The family would like to thank everyone for your prayers and concerns during these last months of Berrier’s illness. You all have shown tremendous love and support by visiting, helping, and giving of yourselves. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Westlawn Gardens of Memory at a later date. Robert ‘Bob’ Wayne Coble

Mr. Robert “Bob” Wayne Coble, 74 of Advance, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Dec. 7, 1947, in Hamilton County, Tennessee, to the late Wendall Lloyd Coble and Nina Grace Hall. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Forrest Coble; son, Robert Wayne Coble Jr.; daughter, Shannon Grimes (Randall); and sisters, Linda Underwood and Cynthia Carpenter; grandchildren, Cailey, Robert Wayne Coble III (Tripp), Austin and Jackson, all of Orlando Florida, grandchildren Alex, Sabrina and Samantha, of Advance. Coble is also survived by his loyal four-legged companion, Ayra. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Hayworth Miller Kinderton Chapel by Pastor Bob Summers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Minnie Cornatzer

Heaven gained another angel on Jan. 5, 2022. Mrs. Minnie Cornatzer passed away at her home. She was born on Nov. 19, 1927, to the late Ernest Ralph Riddle and Kate Seats. She was one of six children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Monroe Cornatzer, sister, Lucy Parks and brother, Tommy Riddle. She is survived by two sons; Billy Cornatzer (Sonja), Stacy Cornatzer (Betty Jean), and grandsons, Adam and Chad Cornatzer. Also surviving are sisters, Emma Long (Thomas), Margaret Davis, and Nancy Collette. Cornatzer was a world-class cook with many people in the community having the opportunity to sit at her table. She also enjoyed artwork, tending to her flowers and doing hook rugs. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Burial followed at Bixby Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service from 12:30-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Fay Smithdeal Deans

Fay Smithdeal Deans, 98, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2021. Deans was born in Winston-Salem on March 16, 1923, to the late Charles Cleveland Smithdeal Sr. and Gladys Pfaff Smithdeal. She loved to tell stories about growing up in Ardmore, shag dancing at Myrtle Beach, and going to Advance to have Sunday dinner every week. Deans was an avid reader and enjoyed doing stitch work, and growing and arranging flowers. She was fortunate enough to travel extensively with her late husband, visiting many foreign countries. She was also a lifetime member of Ardmore Methodist Church.

She graduated Reynolds High School with the class of 1940. Deans then attended Greensboro College and transferred to UNC Chapel Hill where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1948. Deans worked for Eastern Airlines as a reservation agent and as a technical editor with Western Electric.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she both adored and was adored by her family. Deans was preceded in death by her loving husband, John H. Deans; grandchildren, Chris Brewer and Amy Chaney; and brothers, C. C. Smithdeal Jr. and Richard Smithdeal. She leaves behind her daughter, Sandra McCallie (Ralph); grandchildren, Keith Brewer (Regina), Joy Pace (Billy), and Carma McCallie (Mike Kimbell); seven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Deans will be interred at Forsyth Memorial after cremation. A celebration of life service may be held at a later date.

Betty N. Holbrook

Betty N. Holbrook, 80, of Clemmons, passed away at her home Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. Holbrook was born in Forsyth County to the late Hunter Nance and Mary Russell Nance on Nov. 3, 1941. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. Holbrook graduated from Gray High School and attended Western Carolina University. She retired from U.S. Airways and was an active member of the Clemmons Moravian Church. Preceding her in death were her parents Hunter and Mary Nance, and her late husband Roger Holbrook. Surviving her are daughter Layna Polirer (Darren) and granddaughters Addison and Kendall of Charleston, S.C.; son Gregory Holbrook of Belews Creek; brother Jack Nance (Robert) of High Point, former sister-in-law Jennifer Nance of New Bern; niece Audrey Manning (Randy) of Charleston S.C.; nephew Jordan Nance (Krista) of Holly Springs; nephew James Nance of Charleston, S.C. Also surviving are great-nephews Zachary and Henry Nance and Trent and Colton Manning. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Clemmons Moravian Church followed by a committal at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clemmons Moravian Church, 3535 Spangenberg Ave. Clemmons, NC 27012.
