With a little taste last week, the Titans are back full force for our first full week of school since break, although this week definitely isn’t an easy one. First semester exams start today and will run through next Wednesday, Jan.19. Click here for the full exam schedule https://storage.googleapis.com/pt05-2/messages/attachments/79a344cb68851174348b1a37eb0b1cd7/Student_Exam_Schedule_-_Fall_2021-2022.pdf

West exams have had some big changes this unprecedented year. The biggest change we have seen is the exemption policy; specifically any student with an overall grade of A, B, or C are exempt from taking any non-state tested course. Another change is students who are exempt will be allowed to miss their review session along with their exam period without negatively impacting their attendance records. See the school website for further details.

Student should arrive at their exam location by 8:45 a.m. and any state test will require Chromebooks to be dropped off and logged in by the teacher. If the student would like to leave after the exam, they must deliver a signed parent note to the teacher giving the exam and will not be required to sign out with the main office as long as they have said note.

On a lighter note, their are some fun things coming up for the Titans. Auditions for “Legally Blonde, The Musical” are Jan. 24, 25 and 26 and more information is on the call board in the APAC. The Titan Talent Show and Coffeehouse auditions are here and auditions are being taken after school in person or via video sent to Renae Hubbard. Auditions will be held Feb. 8.

Spring sports are right around the corner and tryouts begin Feb. 14. Students who plan to try out  must have all required documents completed in Dragonfly (ww.dragonflymax.com) by Jan.28. Wristbands will be distributed during the week  Feb. 7 and the schedule for wristbands will be posted Jan. 31.

As the second semester starts the competition for scholarships increases, here are some Titans in the running. Cadence Brady, Ava Shearin and Kelly Smith are semifinalists for the name Park Scholar. Janie Peterson and Sarah Smith are now semifinalists in the Morehead-Cain Scholarship competition and they will continue to compete for the title. Another student Daizha Rattley was selected as the student of the month, she is said to be hardworking and someone who represents West well.
