Lewisville Middle girls sweep Clemmons

The Lewisville varsity girls team getting last minute strategy before playing Clemmons on Tuesday. Lewisville won the battle of the unbeatens to improve to 7-0.

The Lewisville Middle School girls basketball teams swept Clemmons Middle on Tuesday at Clemmons.

The varsity girls, powered by 25 points from Gigi Lyons, won 42-26 to remain unbeaten and improve to 7-0. It was also the first loss of the season for the Clemmons varsity girls team, which fell to 6-1.

The Lewisville JV girls got 16 points from Sophie Wyshner in a 34-0 win against the Clemmons JV girls.

Lyons scored 16 of the first 17 points of the game for Lewisville and had 22 in the first half as the Lions rolled out to a 28-14 lead at halftime. Eighteen of her points came on 3-pointers before she fouled out of the game early in the third quarter.

Cameron Fleming scored eight to lead Clemmons. Laila Jones added seven and Azari Watkins finished with six.

The boys games were postponed until Monday, Feb. 14 and will be played at Lewisville.
