After a brutal week on West’s outdoor campus with low temperatures and rain, the Titans are definitely ready for spring. This is the second full week of the second semester and things are getting back to normal around school.

Spring sports tryouts begin Feb.14. It’s mandatory to have a wristband if planning to tryout. These will only be issued to those who are eligible in all aspects. Wristbands will be distributed from 3:45-4:15 p.m. in Simpson Gym. The distribution date is based on each specific sport, the schedule is posted on the West Forsyth High School website homepage.

The Girls Service Club held its annual blood drive Wednesday. This year was especially important because the country is in a national blood shortage. The GSC members assisted the Red Cross staff and donors every step of the way and made the day run as smoothly as possible.

The Titan Talent Show and Coffeehouse performance will take place Feb. 17. This is where the Titans express their creativity and show off their talent to the public. The event will start at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. The Drama Department describes it as an “open mic feel” with a very laid-back atmosphere. The option to practice in the auditorium the afternoon of the performance is offered as well.

Registration packets for the 2022-2023 school year were distributed last week during homerooms. Individual student meetings began Monday and will run through March 3; these will take place during math classes. In the meantime, students should review teacher recommendations, enter course requests in PowerSchool, and list course requests on the registration card. The West Forsyth Virtual Registration Page is available to help guide and prepare for individual meetings with the school counselors.

There has been an increase in security cameras around West’s campus. There are now cameras in the 1000 building stairwells as well as others scattered around campus. This change increases the safety of all students and staff on campus.
