Board also votes for continued masking into March
The WS/FCS Board of Education has approved the calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The calendar chosen was option B. Calendar B received 75% of the vote compared to 25% for Calendar A in a recent survey. This was based on the feedback from school personnel, parents, students and community members.
The first day for students will be Aug. 29 and the last day for students will be June 9, 2023. The calendar features a student winter break from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3,
2023. And spring break for students will be March 31 through April 10, 2023. You can visit the WSFCS website to view the calendar.
In other matters, the board voted to extend the mandatory mask requirement into March. The board made the decision Tuesday night at its regularly scheduled meeting. Everyone will be asked to continue wearing face coverings inside of all district buildings, facilities and transportation.
Masking will continue to be optional for indoor athletics and performing arts only while actively playing or performing. This is only for games and public performances. Masks remain mandatory during practices or while waiting to actively play or perform.
WS/FCS will monitor the number of cases and close contacts over the next month and report the findings at the March 8 meeting. This is when the next monthly vote, as mandated by the governor’s order, will take place.
