The Forsyth County Drug Task Force seized more than $91 million worth of drug trafficking linked items in 2021 including drugs, vehicles, cash, firearms and drug paraphernalia.

The task force is the result of the collective pooling of resources related to narcotics investigations by the Winston-Salem Police Department, Kernersville Police Department and Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to make a larger impact on the illicit drug trade in Forsyth County. The task force focuses on identifying, investigating and charging drug traffickers who are supplying street-level sellers and users. The task force was officially signed into existence in December 2020.

During the calendar year 2021, drug task force detectives made 367 felony charges, 104 misdemeanor charges, and 18 federal indictments as a result of their investigations. The items listed below have a cumulative street value of $91,741,264 and were all seized between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2021:

• 23,952 grams of cocaine with a street value of approximately $2,395,200

• 18,962 grams of fentanyl with a street value of approximately $4,740,500

• 7,930 grams of heroin with a street value of approximately $1,982,500

• 228,024 grams of marijuana with a street value of approximately $1,710,180

• 306,830 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $76,595,000

• 60,584 grams of THC products with a street value of approximately $3,029,200

• 1,099 items of drug paraphernalia

• $1,277,684 in U.S. currency

• 84 handguns

• 15 long guns

• 6 vehicles

Drug task force membership includes not only detectives from the three local law enforcement agencies but also task force officers from each of the federal law enforcement agencies that work in Forsyth County, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Drug Enforcement Administration; Homeland Security Investigations; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and U.S. Marshals Service.
