A new Tractor Supply will be coming to Clemmons later this year.

The company is planning to move out of its present location in the Westwood Village Shopping Center on Lewisville-Clemmons Road two miles away to a 4.52-acre parcel at the intersection of Harper Road and Thoroughbred Lane.

The property borders the off-ramp from I-40 at Exit 182 to the north and Tanglewood Commons Shopping Center, anchored by Harris Teeter, to the south.

A sign was recently placed on the property, which is now in the process of being cleared, saying: Coming Soon: Pet Supplies, Fencing, Hardware, Lawn & Garden, Clothing – Tractor Supply Co. – Find More @ TractorSupply.com.

Although a local store representative said he didn’t have “anything to give out yet on that,” he did confirm the move, adding he hoped it would happen this year “but nothing hard and fast with all the shortages going on.”

However, a Tractor Supply spokesperson representing the corporate office in Brentwood, Tenn., confirmed: “At this time, I can confirm that a new Tractor Supply will be opening in Clemmons in fall 2022.”

Although he couldn’t offer any specifics on the new store, the spokesperson did say Tractor Supply relocations occur due to a combination of varying reasons.

“Some of the top reasons include limited store layout due to size, low amount of parking, lack of space for new initiatives, like the new Garden Center, Feed and Fencing Center and forage shed,” he said. “Additionally, some locations can be challenging to access during certain times of the day. Ultimately, moving to a new building gives Tractor Supply the opportunity to expand and provide new services that will better benefit  customers.”

Each Tractor Supply store typically has about 15,500 square feet of selling space inside, he said, with a similar amount of outside space. The existing Clemmons store is similar in size. An affiliate of The Keith Corp., a full-service real estate company based in Charlotte, bought four tracts that combined for just over 4.5 acres for $2.36 million at the intersection of Harper Road and Thoroughbred Lane, from Davie Properties Inc. of Advance.

The Keith Corp. has developed over 23 million square feet, exceeding $3 billion in value and consisting of the following asset types — industrial, office, healthcare and retail. The company currently lists more than 80 Tractor Supply stories in its portfolio, including eight N.C. locations.

The site plan calls for a building with a proposed total area of 21,593 square feet, including the main sales area, feed center and greenhouse. There is also a fenced outdoor display area along with a permanent trailer and equipment display area.

The company spokesperson pointed out that Tractor Supply is the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the U.S. and is passionate about serving those who enjoy living the “Out Here” lifestyle.

“The Clemmons Tractor Supply will serve the needs of homeowners, livestock and pet owners, hobby farmers, tradesmen and others,” he said.  Tractor Supply customers can shop from a wide range of products including workwear and boots, equine and pet supplies, zero turns and riding mowers, pet food, power tools, fencing, welding and more.”

The new store will provide about 15 new jobs to the area, according to the company spokesperson, with at least half of those being full-time positions.
