Clarinets in Rhapsody to perform in Lewisville

Join the Town of Lewisville for an afternoon of music with the Clarinets in Rhapsody concert featuring the University of North Carolina School of the Arts clarinet quintet. The concert will be from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville.

UNCSA clarinet professor Oskar Espina Ruiz and his students will hold a program of works by Mozart, Hovahaness, Dvorak, Lutoslawki, African-American pioneering composer Florence Price, UNCSA faculty composer Lawrence Dillon, UNCSA student composer Lawrence Dillon and UNCSA student composer Peter Noll. This program also includes the all-time favorite works including Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Liza” and “Fly Me to the Moon,” by Bart Howard.

The quintet features Ruiz, Clara Ruiz Medina, Mya Gibson, Manuela Miranda Puerta, B flat clarinet; and Casey McGuire, bass clarinet. Admission is free, however seating is limited. The sponsorship for the concert was made possible by the Shallow Ford Foundation.
