Couriering Clemmons:What was happening in the area this week in 1992:

Clemmons was named a superior incorporated town at the Northwest North Carolina Development Association 38th annual awards dinner.

Judges came to Clemmons and toured the area and heard presentations from volunteer groups about achievements and highlights in the the village.

Judges were shown how old houses in Clemmons are being preserved as offices; the new ABC store; Joyce Foods and the developing industrial park on Kinnamon Road; the antique stagecoach being restored and the proposed sidewalk project.

Mary Cameron, chairwoman of the Appearance Commission, and village manager Al Dillon took the judges on the tour of Clemmons.

A master plan for the community of Lewisville was completed and ready for public viewing.

Graduate students from the Department of City and Regional planning at UNC Chapel Hill will be making their presentation to the town council.

Some of the recommendations were for sewer construction locations and reducing lot restrictions to promote more residential development.

Meredith Willard, a junior at West Forsyth, won the N.C. State Gymnastics Championship at UNC Chapel Hill, marking her fourth win in the competition. She place first in all four events and scored 9.8 on the vault, 96 on the uneven bars, 9.55 on the floor exercise and 9.25 on the balance beam.

She also won the all-round title with a score of 38.2 out of a possible 40 points.
