James Sanders ‘Sandy’ Ferguson III

Mr. James Sanders “Sandy” Ferguson III, 59, of Advance passed away at home after years of declining health. He was born June 25, 1962, in Wake County to James Sanders Ferguson Jr. and Bobbie Southard Ferguson. Ferguson had retired from ABF Freight Lines as terminal manager. He is preceded in death by his father. Surviving are son, Cass Ferguson; mother, Bobbie S. Ferguson; sister, Natalie Moore; and brother, Rev. Robert Ferguson, FSSP. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Davie County Schools Exceptional Children’s Department 220 Martin Luther King Dr. Mocksville, NC 27028. The family would like to thank all the caregivers who helped with Ferguson’s care through the years.

Stephen O’Neil Hundley

Mr. Stephen O’Neil Hundley, 63, of Lewisville passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Jan. 4, 1959, in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Hundley graduated in 1978 from North Davidson High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Hall Hundley and Franklin O’Neil Hundley. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Phyllis Phelps Hundley; daughter, Jessica Henning (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Ellaynah Henning and Elijah Henning; brother, Mark Hundley (Brigitte); sisters, Teresa James (Steve) and Cindy Johnson (Larry) and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Chaplain Patricia Greene officiating. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care or to Cancer Services.

Don Matney celebration of life

A celebration of life service for Don Matney will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Unity Moravian Church in Lewisville. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. with a service to follow at 2 p.m.

Linda Grey Wood

Linda Grey Wood, 76, of Mocksville died Friday, April 1, 2022, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She was born Feb. 7, 1946, in Davie County, to the late Edward Alex “Bill” and Willie Mae Williams Wood. Wood had worked for Heritage Furniture. She loved fishing and playing bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Hill, Peggy Wilson, Annie “Opal” Wood Brown, and Mattie Sue Wood Hicks. Survivors include sisters, Patsy Laird and Kathy York, both of Mocksville; a special nephew who was like her son, Eddie Hill of the home; and her special companion, Boo Bear.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Davie Baptist Church with Rev. Hardin officiating. Inurnment was in Davie Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
