Laila Jones of Clemmons wins girls shot put

Yahir Alonzo won two individual events and ran a leg on the winning 4×400 relay team as the Lewisville boys track and field team won the WS/FCS Middle School track championship on Thursday at Reagan High School.

Alonzo won the 800 (2 minutes, 24.68 seconds), the 1600 (5:12.09) and ran the second leg of the relay as Lewisville won the team championship with 69.5 points.

Conner Spear, Cooper Knoup and Joshua Simmons were the other members of the winning relay team.
The Lewisville girls 4×200 relay team of Karmen Morgan, Clara Strickland, Hope Newsome and Elly Randolph also took home first place in 1:57.74.

Laila Jones of Clemmons won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 1 inch.

The Lewisville girls finished in fourth place in the team competition with 51 points, 10 points behind champion Jefferson.

The Clemmons boys finished seventh with 26 points and the girls finished eighth with 24 points.
