Martha Thomas Hege

Martha Thomas Hege, 87, got her wings and soared to heaven to be with her family and savior on May 10, 2022. She was one of five children born to Susie Robertson Thomas and Clint Thomas, in Lewisville. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ann T. Walin and Helen T. Spainhour; and brother “Pete” Thomas. She is survived by her sister, Shirley McInnis; daughter, Tracye Higgins; partner, “Dee Moles” and wonderful nephews and nieces. Hege graduated from Lewisville High School, then attended Forsyth Technical Community College for nursing, which she truly loved. She spent 30 wonderful years at Forsyth Medical Center in the newborn baby department and loved every minute of it. She was a loving mother, companion, friend, and was always smiling and laughing about some of the silliest things. Her imagination and sense of humor made her fun to be around, interesting as well. Her cats were her other children and she loved them so much. Every plant, animal, fish and bird she loved dearly because it had a life and deserved to be loved. Her lake house was her get away, and she loved all the flowers that were planted over the years and couldn’t wait to see what was blooming on each trip. She was a true friend and if you were troubled, she tried to comfort you in any way she could. A true caretaker and loving spirit, she will be greatly missed by so many. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Kevin Kilbreth officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
