Hungry for an Adventure!
• June 1-Aug. 31
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is super hungry … hungry for an adventure! During the months of June through August, children/families will be able to check out the Very Hungry Caterpillar for one week and take photos of him exploring the community. Along with the caterpillar, participants will take home a photo scrapbook in which they can fill it with photos and descriptions of the caterpillar’s adventures to share with others. Crafts-to-Go: Father’s Day Card

Big Bang Boom!

Featuring parent-friendly, educational children’s music by three long-time musicians and dads — Chuck Folds, Steve Willard, and Eddie Walker — from Greensboro. They write songs with a pop sensibility that mixes alternative, hip-hop, rock and country that adults and children of all ages can enjoy. All ages are welcome to join in the fun and rock out! ecoEXPLORE: Herpetology (the study of amphibians and reptiles)

Join in at the Lewisville Branch as the Greensboro Science Center’s ecoExplorers share with children and families the importance of studying and caring for amphibians (frogs, newts, salamanders) and reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles). Crafts-to-Go: Firefly Magnets

Professor Whizzpop!

Have a whale of a summer with Professor Whizzpop and discover all the commotion happening in our oceans. Share in the laughter and wonder as you meet the world’s only acrobatic goldfish, mis-make a mermaid and narrowly avoid becoming a shark snack … participants will even shoot a real-life pirate out of a real-life cannon. Teen Advisory Board Meeting

Lewisville Branch Library’s Teen Advisory Board is made up of Lewisville Branch Library’s teen volunteers (ages 12-18). The board meets to discuss ways to improve the Lewisville Branch Library’s service to teens. The Teen Advisory Board helps to plan programs, create displays and suggests resources that the library should purchase.
YA AuthorTalks with Frank Morelli and Amber Smith
• Monday, June 14, at 11 a.m.

Join in as the library hosts two North Carolina award-winning YA authors, Frank Morelli and Amber Smith. Both authors will share their writing processes, inspirations and latest works. Morelli resides in High Point, and is a winner of the 2019 American Fiction Award for best coming-of-age story, a YALSA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers nominee, and named a Book Excellence Award finalist of 2019. His works include the “Please Return” series and his latest novel, “On the Way to Birdland,” was released in 2021. Smith is the New York Times bestselling author of young adult and middle grade novels, including “The Way I Used to Be,” “The Last to Let Go,” “Something Like Gravity,” and her forthcoming middle grade debut, “Code Name: Serendipity.” An advocate for increased awareness of mental health, gendered violence, and LGBTQIA+ equality, she writes in the hope that her books can help to foster change and spark dialogue. She grew up in Buffalo, New York, and now lives in Charlotte with her wife and their ever-growing family of rescued dogs and cats. The Hook & Loop Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m.

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider and such. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns the library will have on hand. All skill levels are welcome. The group shares each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. No formal instruction. Limited to 14. Registration recommended. Yoga for Beginners (in-person and virtual)

Acrylic Pouring with Amy Guerrini (outdoors)

Paint at the Lewisville Branch using the technique of acrylic pouring. Local artist and instructor Amy Guerrini will demonstrate this unique technique and help participants create their own work of art. Paint supplies will be provided. Registration is required as class size and supplies are limited to 12 participants. This class is for adults and youth age 14 and older. Triad Woodcarvers Demonstration

Accomplished carvers from the Triad Woodcarvers Club will demonstrate their craft, display their work, share information about the club and answer any questions you may have. A primary goal of the club is to promote the art and joy of carving as well as to educate carvers through group carving sessions, seminars, classes and other activities. The Triad Woodcarvers is a non-profit club that formed in 2018, and is based in Winston-Salem. Starting with 18 members, it has grown to currently over 100 members. Witchy Washi Tape Craft

Time for a Great Getaway Series — Group versus Solo Travel

Are you ready to travel or just thinking about it? Join in at the Lewisville Branch as local travel agent Gale Adouli shares her expertise in the second of four sessions. On June 22, participants will learn about the pros and cons of group versus solo travel. Topics for future sessions include “Travel — Especially for Seniors” on Sept. 13, and “Summer Travel Plans Now” on Jan. 11, 2023. Registration is encouraged.
