Clemmons Civic Club announces two scholarship recipients

The Clemmons Civic Club recently chose the winners of its two scholarships that are given annually to Forsyth County high school graduates who have made a significant contribution to the Clemmons community through volunteer work.
This year’s winners are Gavin Daniel and Andrew Scott Betson, both of West Forsyth High School.
Betson was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and a Crosby Scholar. He participated in varsity football and lacrosse. His volunteer activities included helping with food distribution to needy families and helping to coach the Forsyth County Broncos football team. He plans to attend Hampden-Sydney College where he intends to major in business and economics as well as play football.
Daniel was a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, Men’s Service Club and Young Political Leaders. He played trumpet in the West Forsyth wind ensemble and jazz ensemble. He is an Eagle Scout. His volunteer activities included helping with food drives, community clean ups, and assisting at nursing homes. He plans to attend Davidson College and earn a double major in economics and music with a minor in math.
