Western Forsyth Post 522 Blue still rolling

Despite having their seven-game winning streak snapped last week, Western Forsyth Post 522 Blue entered the week with an 8-3 overall record.

Post 522 Blue went 2-2 last week, with both losses coming when the team had just nine players.

Their wins came against Stokes Legion on Tuesday (8-6) and against Randolph Red on Wednesday (16-11) before dropping two straight to Stokes (9-7) on Thursday and against Foothills (14-2) on Friday.

In the win against Stokes on Tuesday, Jordan Richardson drew a bases-loaded walk to break a 6-6 tie in the sixth inning, Richardson’s second RBI of the game.
Richardson (3), Christian Cooper (2) and William Siceloff (5) combined for 10 strikeouts, with Siceloff tossing three scoreless and hitless innings in relief.

In Wednesday’s win against Randolph, Post 522 had an offensive onslaught during a 13-run fifth inning that gave them the lead for good.
Post 522 trailed 11-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Richardson had two hits and four RBIs in the win, with J.D. Chappell, Garrett Secrist and Luis Acevedo each having two RBIs.
Secrist also pitched two shutout innings in relief to hold the lead.
The tying run and go-ahead run were both scored on bases-loaded walks

In the loss against Stokes on Thursday, Post 522 Blue led 7-6 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning but couldn’t make it hold up. Stokes pushed two runs across and then held on for the win.
J.D. Chappell had two RBIs and Richardson, Jonathan Howard and Corey Kellam had one apiece in the loss. Howard also scored three runs.

In Friday’s loss, Foothills jumped all over Post 522 in the first inning for seven runs and coasted to the win in six innings.
Post 522 could muster just five hits in the loss, with Graham Wagoner and T.J. Fergus collecting two apiece.
