Local track athletes qualify for AAU Junior Olympics in Greensboro July 30-Aug. 6

Congratulations to the following local athletes who qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic National Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Greensboro at N.C. A&T July 30-Aug. 6.
Jaiden Hubbard – (West Forsyth High School, rising senior)
Qualified in triple jump. Hubbard earned second place in triple jump in the AAU Region 25 Qualifier Meet. Central Piedmont 4-A Conference Champion and All-Conference in triple jump during school season.
Genysis Howard (West Forsyth High School, rising senior)
Qualified in high jump, long jump and heptathlon. Howard competed in the NCHSAA 4A Championship Meet in long jump and was the Central Piedmont 4-A Conference Champion in high jump and all-conference in high jump and long jump during school season.

Laila Jones (Clemmons Middle School, rising seventh grader)
Qualified in shot put and discus.
Jones was AAU Region 25 Champion in shot put and discus and also recently won the Adidas Outdoor Nationals in both events last month.

Aydin Davis (Clemmons Middle School, rising eighth grader)
Qualified in 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash.
This past Spring was Davis’ first season competing in track, and this summer is his first season competing in club track. Davis earned 4th place at the WSFCS Middle School Championship Meet in his events.
Camden Graham-Wilson (Clemmons Middle School, rising sixth grader)
Qualified in 80 meter hurdles.
This is Graham-Wilson’s first season competing in the hurdles.

Israel Howard (Rising fifth grader, Clemmons resident, Genysis’ Brother)
Qualified in high jump, 80 meter hurdles, and pentathlon.
Howard is the AAU Region 25 Champion in high jump and took third place in the pentathlon in the AAU Region 25 qualifier meet. This is Howard’s first season competing in the hurdles.
Zori Hubbard — (Clemmons Middle School, rising sixth grader)
Qualified in 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and long jump. Hubbard earned second place in the long jump in the AAU Region 25 Qualifier Meet. This is Hubbard’s first season competing in long jump.
Kassidy Norwood (rising fifth grader)
Qualified in shot put and turbo-javelin. This is Norwood’s first season competing in track and field.
*The AAU Region 25 Qualifier Meet is the North Carolina regional meet that determines which athletes advance to the AAU Junior Olympic National Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
