Lewisville Historical Society conducting Shallow Ford Walk Aug. 27

The Lewisville Historical Society and the Yadkin County Historical Society will present the Shallow Ford Walk on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Participants will meet at the Barn at the Shallow Ford Daylily Farm at 2021 Daylily Farm Road in Yadkinville.
This venue owned by the Gilyard Family is located off Courtney-Huntsville Road in Huntsville.
After a short overview, participants will walk to the Daniel Boone Trail Marker on the Forsyth County Side of the Yadkin River, along the original Daniel Boone Trail and the Salem to Shallow Ford Road.
On the Yadkin County side of the Yadkin River, participants will walk to see the site of the 1780 Battle of the Shallow Ford, another Daniel Boone Trail Marker, and walk to the Shallow Ford on the Yadkin River along the original road cut of the Great Wagon Road.
