Lourdes Lopez, who lives in Clemmons and graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in May, has received a scholarship award of $5,000 as one of the eight regional recipients of the Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded by the USTA Foundation (the charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association).

Lopez will attend Wake Forest University.

These scholarships are awarded to students who answered an essay question as to how their life has been affected by diabetes and who are entering a four-year college or university program.
