Friends Annual Fall Book Sale

Banned Book in a Jar
• Sept. 1-29
During the month of September, customers will be able to guess what banned or challenged book is in the jar based on some helpful clues. Correct answers will be entered in a drawing to win a prize. The winner will be announced on Friday, Sept. 30.

Family Films on Friday

Friends of the Lewisville Library Annual Fall Book Sale
Shop for great deals at the Friends Spring Book Sale Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Lewisville Branch. The Friends of the Lewisville Library Preview Sale for members is on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6-8 p.m. Join the Friends at the door. All proceeds from the book sale go to support the Lewisville Branch Library.

Back-to-School Search & Find

Search the children’s area for hidden pencils and get a prize while supplies last. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Branch.

Masks from Central and South America 
• Monday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. 
• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Looking at masks from the Lam Museum of Anthropology’s collections, children will see different types and styles from Central and South America. They will learn where, how, and for what purpose these masks are created. Using paper, makers, feathers and other materials participants will make their own mask to take home. Recommended for ages PreK-8. Space is limited. Registration is required. This program is in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and is sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library. 

Family Storytime 
• Resumes Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. 

Join in for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities designed for small children. Recommended for children ages 18 months – 5 years old and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Family Storytime will meet on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

STEAMing at the Library Series: LEGO Robotics 
• Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 3:30 – 5 p.m. 
• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 
In a free workshop using LEGOs, learn how to sketch and build working robots like an engineer. Materials are free and provided. You may also bring your own LEGOs to supplement the supplies on hand for the open build time. No registration required.

Gateway to Fall concert with The Fun Fatale Trio 
• Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. 
• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 
Come hear the sounds of The Fun Fatale Trio, an acoustic band of vocal harmonies, guitar, fiddle and upright bass. According to The Trio, their music defies genre and entertains audiences with its own interpretations of new and old songs with roots in a variety of traditions. Whether it’s a sweet tune from the ‘40s, a fresh take on a bluegrass standard, a contemporary folk song, or a rousing Celtic instrumental, their music reflects choices intended to put a smile on faces. Witchy Washi Tape Craft

The Friends of the Lewisville Library invite all adults to participate in interesting discussions of timely titles. You do not need to be a member of the Friends to participate. This month’s title: “The Age of Innocence” by Edith Wharton in honor of our 2022 On the Same Page community read the title, “The Personal Librarian” by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray.
