The Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce had its third annual Golf Tournament on Oct. 17 and it was a great success.
Sixty-four players enjoyed a beautiful day of golf on Bermuda Run Country Club’s East Course. It was a great day of relaxation, fun and networking. The early morning weather did not look promising, but by tee time, the clouds had cleared and the sun was shining bright. The weather held at a perfect 72 degrees in the afternoon, and the conditions seemed only to get better as the day went on. A shotgun start began the day at 10 a.m., with each team starting on a different hole. In the hours that followed, the teams worked their way around the holes, doing their best to keep it out of the bunkers and inside the fairway.

A highlight attempt for each team took place on hole No. 8, where each team was shooting for a hole-in-one to win a new Toyota Highlander, sponsored by Modern Automotive. Witnesses saw a few particularly close shots, and to say it was impossible would be wrong. Plenty of the players got a shot directly on the green, some even coming within 10 to 15 yards of the hole. However, the 178-yard shot from the orange tees proved too tough a challenge, with no one coming away victorious with a hole-in-one. On the other side of the course, at hole No. 16, players competed for the chance to win a Breitling Watch, courtesy of Windsor Jewelers. Though there weren’t any hole-in-one winners, the players kept their heads held high, and they all put up their best efforts for the love of the game.

Around noon, lunch was provided by Chick-Fil-A, which kept the players fed and ready to take on the course. For the rest of the afternoon, players shared laughs, camaraderie and fun as they finished 18 holes.

Congratulations to the winning team of Doug Johnsen, Ben Kerth, Chad Jones and Mike Jackson, sponsored by Leonard Ryden Burr. Cameron Dean shot the Longest Drive on hole 10; the Longest Putt made on hole 19 was shot by Doug Johnsen; Chris Ingram shot the Closest to the Pin on hole 8. The top three teams all won prizes for their efforts.
