Child programs

Family Storytime 

• Tuesdays at 10 a.m. 

Join in for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities designed for small children. Recommended for children ages 18 months – 5 years old and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Family Storytime will meet on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Storytime with Santa Claus

• Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. 

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Santa Claus will be visiting the Lewisville Branch all the way from the North Pole. He will be sharing some holiday cheer this December with fun stories, rhymes, songs and activities for children. Crafts-to-Go: Winter Magnets

Elf on the Bookshelf

Elf on the…Bookshelf?  The Lewisville Branch elf, Tinsel, has been spotted sneaking around at night! Follow along during the month of December as she receives her first library card, runs a midnight storytime and gets into mischief. Follow the library’s social media page to keep up with Tinsel’s adventures. 

Stuffie Sleepover 

• Thursday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. 

• Lewisville Branch Storytime Room 

Join in for a stuffie sleepover. Pajamas encouraged. Children and their favorite stuffie will enjoy a storytime and a craft, and then the stuffies will be let loose in the library overnight. Families can pick up exhausted stuffies the following morning, as well as a photo book of the night’s mischief. Space is extremely limited, registration is required. Teen programs

Lewisville-Clemmons Teen Advisory Board Meeting  

• Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. 

• Clemmons Branch Library 
The Lewisville-Clemmons Branch Teen Advisory Board is made up of teen volunteers from the Lewisville and Clemmons area. The board meets once a month, alternating between the Lewisville and Clemmons Branches and meets on the second Tuesday (during the school year) each month to discuss ways to improve both branches. The Teen Advisory Board helps to plan programs, create displays and suggests resources that the library should purchase. Best Friends: How Therapy Dogs Can Help 

• Saturday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. 

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Ever wanted to learn what a therapy dog does? On Dec. 10, the Lewisville Branch Library will get a visit from Marcia Pearce, a therapy dog handler, and her Great Dane Chance. Chance and Marcia have made over 600 visits to hospitals and organizations, earning Chance the title of “AKC Therapy Dog Supreme,” the highest honor the AKC gives to therapy dogs. Marcia will talk about how therapy dogs can help people and what they do on their visits. Chance will be available for doggie hugs, kisses and pets.

Yoga for Beginners (in-person and virtual) 

• Thursday, Dec. 15 at noon 

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Join in at the Lewisville Branch auditorium or from home for two free yoga sessions to help uplift your mind and body during this stressful time. The class is facilitated by a local yoga instructor Tracy O’Neill of YogaCentrix. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library. Call 336-703-2940 for more information.

Belly Dancing for Beginners 

• Friday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. 

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Get your shimmy on! Learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as people of all ages come together to promote health, happiness and community. Suitable for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Wear comfy clothes and shoes. This is a free monthly class. Contact the library at 336-703-2940 for more information. Recommended for ages 55+ and up but all ages are welcome.

Tuesday at Two Book Club (in-person and virtual)

• Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m.

The Tuesday at Two book club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.

Hook & Loop Group (in-person and virtual)

• Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m.  

The Hook & Loop Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m.

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider and such. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns that will be on hand. All skill levels are welcome. The group shares each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. No formal instruction. Advance Care Planning Workshop 

• Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. 

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Do you have a health care power of attorney assigned? Do you have a living will? Join in at the Lewisville Branch to learn about the purpose and importance of having advance care planning in place. Advance care planning is a process to help your loved ones know how to speak for you if you are ever unable to make your own medical decisions. Such instances can include if you undergo surgery, get a serious illness, or are injured in an unexpected accident. Don Timmons from Trellis Supportive Care will be the presenter and will provide the necessary documents for you to assign a health care power of attorney and create a living will. He will also provide guidance for filling out these forms during the program. Registration is recommended. Holiday Sounds with the Fun Fatale Trio 

• Thursday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. 

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium 

Come hear all sorts of holiday tunes from the Fun Fatale Trio, an acoustic band of vocal harmonies, guitar, fiddle and upright bass. According to The Trio, their music defies genre and entertains audiences with its own interpretations of new and old songs with roots in a variety of traditions. Whether it’s a sweet tune from the ‘40s, a fresh take on a bluegrass standard, a contemporary folk song, or a rousing Celtic instrumental, their music reflects choices intended to put a smile on faces. Call the branch at 336-703-2940 for more information.
