Learn to make Moravian star ornaments at Bethabara Moravian Church

Celebrate the season by learning how to make a traditional Moravian star ornament at one of the upcoming Saturday workshops at Bethabara Moravian Church. Materials will be provided — bringing your own pair of scissors is recommended — and attendees will take home a completed 4.5-inch Moravian star. 

The one-day workshop will be held on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and pre-registration is required. To reserve your spot, contact Frank Brown at 336-397-7586 or frankb@cityofws.org

Clemmons UMC Christmas Spectacular

The youth of Clemmons UMC will be hosting their Christmas Spectacular event on Dec. 9-11 from 6-8 p.m. each night.
This event takes people through a Christmas trail decorated in Christmas lights and decorations by our youth. Golf cart rides are available for those who are unable to walk the trail.
Meet-and-greets with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff from Frozen; Santa Land where kids can write a letter to Santa and meet him; a live Nativity; a Christmas Shoppe with hand-made goodies (baked goods and crafts); an outdoor Christmas movie; and s’more station.
This is a free event for our community but donations are accepted to help support youth summer mission trips.

Salem Band 2022 Holiday Concerts, ‘Christmas at the Movies’

Free concerts in Winston-Salem and Clemmons

• Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m., New Philadelphia Moravian Church

• Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m., Clemmons First Baptist Church

Join Salem Band for its annual holiday concerts, “Christmas at the Movies.” Musical selections from “Home Alone,” “Holiday Inn” and “Polar Express.” Hear your favorite traditional songs and carols from a variety of films and TV shows including “Rudolph,” “The Grinch,” “It’s a Wonderful Life” and many others. The audience can enjoy multiple audience sing-along opportunities.

These concerts are free, but donations will be accepted for Sunnyside Ministry at New Philadelphia Moravian Church. Pre-concert holiday music performed by Salem Saxophone Quartet and Clemmons Ladies Vocal Ensemble.

Martha Bassett and Friends Christmas at Shallowford Presbyterian Church

Martha Bassett and Friends will present an evening of Christmas Songs at Shallowford Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. Free admission. A donation of $15 is suggested. Service of Lessons and Carols at Shallowford Presbyterian Church

Shallowford Presbyterian Church will present a Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 10:30 a.m. This beloved service weaves together scripture and song, including carols sung by choir and congregation, beginning with the story of the Garden of Eden through the prophecy of redemption to the fulfillment of that promise in the birth of Christ. Welcome to Medicare Workshop offered

The Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem is offering a virtual workshop for individuals turning 65 (as well as those who already have Medicare) to learn about the different insurance options available, including “Original Medicare,” Medicare prescription drug programs, Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage plans.

The session will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, Dec. 19, from 3-4:30 p.m. through computer and telephone access.

The session is designed to explain and clarify the Medicare sign-up process and educate attendees on how to make smart choices. Trained Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselors will be available to answer general questions.
