DivorceCare at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will offer a 14-week DivorceCare Series on Wednesdays through April 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Ministry Center Room A-210.
DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come together to help each other with healing from the pain of separation or divorce.
This video-based support group program offers helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil that the participants are experiencing. It will also offer practical tools for decision-making. To register for this group or for more information, visit DivorceCare\Groups\148328. All are welcome.

W-S Symphony Presents Sensory-Friendly Family Concert
“Worldwide Playlist: Dancing Around the Globe”

The Winston-Salem Symphony will present the Ignite Family Series performance of Worldwide Playlist: Dancing Around the Globe at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at R.J. Reynolds Auditorium at 301 N. Hawthorne Road in Winston-Salem.

This sensory-friendly concert is an excellent fit for all families. Guest conductor John McKeever will lead the orchestra through dance music and rhythms from around the world. Attendees will experience orchestral music from North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and learn about the rhythms native to global cultures.

This concert is the second in the Winston-Salem Symphony’s fun and exciting three-concert Ignite Family Series. These shows provide an interactive experience that the entire family can enjoy while introducing the youngest audience members to the joy of live music. In addition to the concert, there will be a variety of pre-concert activities, including games, story times, and an instrument petting zoo that gives all kids a chance to make sounds just like the musicians on stage. Festivities start at 2 p.m. with interactive craft activities with Wake Forest University’s Museum of Anthropology and Kaleideum along with drumming with Tam Tam Mandingue. Audience members are encouraged to arrive up to an hour before show-time to participate in all available activities. The concert itself is a kid-friendly length of under one hour.

Blood drive at Lewisville Library on Feb. 8

Share the love by donating blood! February is the month of love. What better way to show love for our neighbors than by giving them the gift of life. The American Red Cross will be at the Lewisville Branch Library Auditorium from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

Literacy project needs volunteers

Read Write Spell needs volunteers to serve as tutors to public-school students. The project trains and supports volunteers and provides all of the tools necessary for success. An online information session for people interested in learning more about the program will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14; Tuesday, March 14; and Tuesday, April 11, at noon on Zoom. Read Write Spell is located at 875 W. 5th Street Winston-Salem.
