The beginning of February also kicks off the Clemmons Food Pantry’s “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” initiative in the village.
The Clemmons Food Pantry wants to fortify its supply of food that is distributed to those in need by receiving donations throughout the month.
For week 1 (Jan. 30-Feb. 5), the focus will be on the 12 most wanted food items. These are bags of rice, grits, salad dressings, canned tuna, peanut butter, jelly/jam, ketchup, mustard, cereal, canned chicken, canned chili, oatmeal and beans.
For week 2 (Feb. 6-Feb. 11), the focus will be on “giving from the heart,” where the CFP is requesting non-perishable items that you love to coincide with the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday.
For week 3, Feb. 12-18), the focus is “rise and shine,” focusing on non-perishable breakfast items.
For the final week, the theme will be “let’s celebrate our community” by donating dessert mixes, cakes, brownies, frosting, candles, sprinkles, etc. for the birthday bin.
There will be a celebration on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the food pantry from 1-3 p.m.
Bring two non-perishable food items on Feb. 25 to ride the Triad Express with some of Clemmons’ law enforcement officers.
Kaveman Dogs and Mama Mia’s Italian Ice will be also be at the celebration if you are interested in purchasing food.
The Clemmons Food Pantry is located at 2660 Neudorf Road.
