Do you have the backyard blues because of runoff from heavy rain events? Stormwater SMART’s Danica Heflin will be at the Lewisville Branch to help you learn three simple strategies to control the flow: disconnection (downspout redirection), collection (rain barrels) and naturalization (gardening with native flowers, grasses, shrubs and trees). These methods make your landscape more resilient during and after heavy storms and help you save money on utilities. You’ll also be helping to improve the water quality in our creeks, streams and rivers. Need more motivation? Lucky participants will take home helpful freebies: You could win a rain barrel, mature native plants, wildflower seeds, gardening guides or a combination of prizes. Registration is encouraged if you would like to receive a reminder email. To register, email Sue at deguzmse@forsyth.cc or call the Lewisville Branch at 336- 703-2940.

Advance care planning is a process to help your loved ones know how to speak for you if you are ever unable to make your own medical decisions. Such instances can include if you undergo surgery, get a serious illness or are injured in an unexpected accident. A representative from Trellis Supportive Care will present and provide the necessary documents for you to assign a health care power of attorney and create a living will. They will also provide guidance for filling out these forms during the program. Registration is recommended. Register by emailing Sue at deguzmse@forsyth.cc or calling the Lewisville Branch at 336-703-2940.
