Kiwanis Club of Clemmons members were busy with many activities and volunteer efforts in April.

Membership meetings for the month were held on April 4 and April 18. The board met on April 11.

The speaker for the April 4 meeting was Kathy Giff. She is the coordinator for CLASS, formerly known as The Interfaith Alliance. Clemmons Lewisville Action for Student Success works with school administrators and local social workers to offer support and resources to fulfill the needs of school communities in the Clemmons and Lewisville area.

A report was made on the interclub visit to Winston-Salem, Twin Cities club, on March 22.

Toni Rossi enjoyed assisting with Career Day at Frank Morgan Elementary School on April 11. He will also be attending mentor training.

Community Outreach Chairman Steve Danner sent the report to the DOT on the most recent highway cleanup. There was a cleanup on May 6, which was a community-wide clean. Fostering Faith Foundation’s Soft Golf event was also scheduled for May 6. Member Ina Beavers attended.

A report was made on the Key Club attendance at D-Con. As usual, this amazing group of young people won a slew of awards. Some of which were:
· 1st Place District Award
· Top Fundraising Award for the Boys and Girls Home of N.C.
· Distinguished Club Award (only three awarded)
· Diamond Distinguished Club Award (only club to receive this)
· 1st Place Major Emphasis Award — Feed My Starving Children Event

The district’s newly elected Key Club Lieutenant Governor is Sundus Khan. She is a member of the Key Club at West Forsyth High School.

The Clemmons Kiwanians were out in force at the Annual Clemmons Community Day at the Jerry Long YMCA. The Kiwanis Club of Davie, Blind Power and The Fostering Faith Foundation joined the event. Members enjoyed talking to people about Kiwanis and giving out popcorn, candy pops and bottled water.

Fundraising Nut Sales Coordinator Chris Billups was proud to announce that all of the bags of pecans were sold at the Clemmons Community Day. A decent profit was made from the sales.

Club members are still pursuing starting the bingo games and meals back up at Trinity Elms.

The next membership meetings for May will be held on Tuesday and the 16. It will be a special membership-building meeting.

All Trinity Elms Apartment Complex residents who want to learn more about Kiwanis are invited to join. The club is expecting members from Twin Cities Kiwanis as well. Speakers will be Ed Dean with Cruise Planners Travel and Thao Sommerville.

Meetings are held at the Trinity Elms Apartment Complex activity center at 7543 Fair Oaks Drive, Clemmons.

Meetings begin at 8 am. Anyone interested is welcome to join. Coffee and breakfast items will be served.
