LEWISVILLE — The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education has approved Lowana G. Wade as the new principal of Lewisville Middle School.

Wade earned her baccalaureate of science in community health and school health education from East Carolina University. She has a master of science in school administration from NC A&T University and a master of science in school counseling from Capella University.

Wade began her career in education with Guilford County Schools in 2003 when she served as a communities in schools coordinator, athletic director and physical education teacher. She joined WS/FCS in 2013 as a basketball coach at Mount Tabor High School, where she also taught health and was a school counselor.

She was an interim principal and assistant principal at Piedmont Classical High School from 2018 to 2020. She returned to WS/FCS as an assistant principal at West Forsyth High School in 2020. She has served as the assistant principal at Lewisville Middle School since 2021.

Wade begins her new role on July 1.

In other district appointments, Dr. Sheila Burnette will be taking over as principal of Hall Woodward Elementary.

Burnette received her doctorate of education from Gardner Webb University. She got a master of school administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a bachelor of arts in education from Elon College.

Burnette was an assistant principal in Alamance County Schools from 2001 to 2004. She was a principal and assistant principal in Chapel Hill/Carrboro Schools from 2004 to 2009. She has been with WS/FCS since 2010, serving as the principal of Konnoak Elementary School.

She will begin her new role on July 1.
