Former Titan earns Ph.D.

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY — West Forsyth High School Class of 2005’s Chase Montagnet received her Ph.D. in criminal justice from Rutgers University in May.

Her dissertation was entitled “Losing My Religion: Religion, Offending and Incarceration.”

She successfully defended her dissertation on Feb. 10.

Montagnet received her master’s in criminal justice from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2012.

Her master’s thesis was entitled “Examining Desistance from Crime: Considering the Use of Community Rituals in Reentry.”

Montagnet has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, as well, which she earned at the College of Charleston in 2009, where she also minored in crime, law and society.
