Child programs

Toddler Storytime: 

• Mondays at 10 a.m.

Join in for stories, finger plays, songs and activities designed for small children. Recommended for children ages 0-2 and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Toddler Storytime will meet on Mondays at 10 a.m.  For more information, call 336-703-2940.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office – K9 Unit:

• July 26 at 2 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit is taking time out of their busy crime fighting schedule to visit the library to explain their work. The police dogs of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit and their human partners track criminals, search for illegal drugs and help make our city a safer place. 

Please remember that police dogs are working dogs; so, it may not be possible to pet them. Also, please be aware that police dogs are large dogs and small children may find them intimidating. For more information, call 336-703-2940.

Teen programs

Button-Making for Teens 

Throughout the summer, teens can drop in to the Lewisville Branch Library to make their own button. Create a collage, a mantra or bring in a photo to make a beautiful new button. Limit 2 buttons per person. Drop-in hours for button-making are 3-5 p.m. on Mondays. It starts Monday, June 12 and ends Monday, Aug. 21. Contact Emily at emersoem@forsyth.cc or call 336-703-2942.

Fresh Ink: A Teen Writers’ Group 

• Saturdays at 11 a.m.

• Lewisville Multipurpose Room

Do you have a story to tell? Ever want to start a journal or learn more about how to tell a good story? Fresh Ink is a new teen writers’ group that will allow you to express yourself in a myriad of ways. Instructor Susan Lewis will guide writers through different writing exercises and prompts, encouraging all types of writing and giving writers insight into areas including publishing and filmmaking. Teen Take & Make Craft Kits

Little Theatre of Winston-Salem presents: Intro to Improv for Teens

LAM Museum of Anthropology presents: Paper-Making for Teens 

• July 14 at 2 p.m.

• Lewisville Auditorium

Ages 12-18. By looking at examples from the museum’s collections, teens will learn the ancient art of papermaking around the world. As part of the program, teens will make their own paper. Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

Have you ever wanted to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons? Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures? Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group. The library will have an experienced game master to teach those who want to learn and character sheets and dice will be provided. Summer Meetup dates are June 19; July 3, 17, and 31; and Aug. 14 and 28. All meetups are from 3-5 p.m. in the Lewisville Branch auditorium. This program is recommended for teens, but all are welcome. Witchy Washi & What Not Crafts

Writing Workshop: From Word to Image: Writing Vivid Fiction, Memoir and Poetry 

• July 22 from 1–4 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

We write to transport our readers into the world of our characters and experiences. Sensory detail — temperature, texture, smell, taste, sight — is the door into your story, memoir or poem, bringing your writing to life. In this workshop, learn how to create writing that sings or sizzles, wails, rants or whispers by using sensory images. Diana Engel, Triad poet, author and writing facilitator will be the presenter. Engel is author of “Excavating Light” and is a former president of the Writer’s Group of the Triad. Registration is required. Friends Book Club

Fruit Smoothie Demonstration with Chef Floyd Davis
