With the first day of the upcoming school year within reach, school events are finally back in full swing. That includes Titan fall athletics, many of which have started their seasons.

The varsity football team opened their season on a high note at home, with a close 8-7 win over A.C. Reynolds on Aug. 18. They face their next opponent in Oak Grove on the road tomorrow at 7 p.m. The theme is ‘cowboy,’ so dress up in your best wild west attire and bring some school spirit to Winston-Salem to cheer on the Titans.

The girls varsity volleyball team took a 2-0 start to the season, beating North Surrey 3-0 on Aug. 15 and Western Guilford 3-2 on Aug. 18. They then competed in their annual Wildcat Invitational tournament on Aug. 19, taking down Southern Alamance 3-0, but fell to Carrboro 3-1 and Grimsley 3-0 later on in the day. They face Western Guilford again at 6 p.m. tonight, Aug. 24, at home.

The boys varsity soccer team’s first match of the season on the road against Lake Norman ended in a draw on Aug. 14, and they took the win over Mooresville 5-3 on Aug. 16. They also faced Watauga on the road on Aug. 21 and will face Ledford at home tonight at 7 p.m.

Consider coming out for back-to-back games tonight to show support for both the volleyball and soccer teams.

Seniors, remember to come out to Senior Sunrise on Friday, Aug. 25, at 6:30 a.m. to celebrate the start of the school year with classmates. There will be free food, drinks and even some raffles for prizes.
