Child programs 

Toddler Storytime 

• Mondays at 10 a.m.

Join in for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities designed for small children. Recommended for children ages 0-2 and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Toddler Storytime will meet on Mondays at 10 a.m.

Preschool Storytime 

• Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Join in for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities designed for small children. Recommended for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Preschool Storytime will meet on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Dinosaur Search & Find

Can you find all the dinosaurs hidden in the children’s room at the Lewisville Branch Library? Find them all, and you win a prize. While supplies last.

Take & Make Kits for Kids 

• Nov. 6-11

Kids can pick up a to-go craft kit to make a fun craft. While supplies last.

Builders’ Club 

• Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

The Lewisville Branch Builders’ Club meets the third Wednesday of every month. Bring creative building skills and come play. There are many building supplies, including LEGOs, K’Nex and more. All ages welcome. Space is limited, so registration is required. 

Teen programs

Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group 

• Monday, Nov. 13 and 27, at 3 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

Have you ever wanted to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons? Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures?  Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group. An experienced Game Master will teach those who want to learn and character sheets and dice will be provided. Fall meetup dates are Nov. 13, 27; Dec. 11. All meetups are from 3-5 p.m. at the Lewisville Branch. This program is recommended for teens, but all are welcome.  

Chess Club 

• Wednesday, Nov 29, at 4 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Multipurpose Room

The Lewisville Branch Chess Club meets after school on Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room. Fall dates are Nov. 8 and 29, and Dec. 13 and 27. Learn to play or engage in friendly competition. Space is limited, so registration is required. Ages 12-18. 

Adult programs 

Advance Care Planning Workshop 

• Monday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

Do you have a health care power of attorney assigned? Do you have a living will? Join in at the Lewisville Branch to learn about the purpose and importance of having advance care planning in place. Advance care planning is a process to help your loved ones know how to speak for you if you are ever unable to make your own medical decisions. Such instances can be if you undergo surgery, become seriously ill or unexpectedly injured. A representative from Trellis Supportive Care will present and provide the necessary documents for you to assign a health care power of attorney and create a living will. They will also provide guidance for filling out these forms during the program. Registration is recommended. The Lewisville Historical Society Presents … 

• Monday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m.

• Offsite location: Mary Alice Warren Community Center, 7632 Warren Park Drive, Lewisville

In partnership with the Lewisville Branch Library, the Lewisville Historical Society presents bimonthly on topics ranging from local history to information about historical sites. 

November’s topic: Going Down Tobacco Road: R.J. Reynolds’ Tobacco Empire: The Gold Leaf and North Carolina: Author Talk with Gene Hoots. Participants do not need to be members of the society to attend. Free and open to the public. Gardening Series: Creating Your Own SereneSpace 

• Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

Learn how to create a garden space that is calm, peaceful and untroubled — a place to escape from stress. Betty Ann Falkner, long-time gardener and the owner of SereneScapes Garden, will teach you how to create your own SereneSpace, adding features and colors that calm you while adding to your garden. Registration is encouraged. 

Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafts 

• Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m.

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

Yoga for Beginners 

• Thursday, Nov. 16, at noon

• Lewisville Branch Auditorium

Join in the Lewisville Branch auditorium for two free yoga sessions to help uplift your mind and body during this stressful time. Color & Coffee

A morning to relax, color, be with others and enjoy a cup of coffee on the house. Coloring sheets, colored pencils and coffee will be available for participants. 

Friends Book Club 

• Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch Multi-Purpose Room

The Friends of the Lewisville Library invite all adults to participate in interesting discussions of timely titles. You do not need to be a member of the Friends to participate. This month’s title: “The Nation Must Awake” by Mary E. Jones Parrish. 

Give Thanks, Give Blood Drive 

• Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Lewisville Branch parking lot

Show thanks by donating blood. November has been designated the kindness month. What better way to show kindness and gratitude for our neighbors than by giving them the gift of life. The American Red Cross will be on-site at the Lewisville Branch Library on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

Lewisville Branch Reading Challenge – 1 month left

Take the yearlong reading challenge for your chance to win a $25 gift card to Bookmarks bookstore. The challenge has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both challenges. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if you read both Beginner and Aficionado challenges, you’re entered three times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 11.
