Chaplin, Paschold, Penaloza, McEachran, Gillon highlight All-Central Piedmont 4-A honors for West Forsyth

The Central Piedmont 4-A officially announced its fall all-conference teams on Wednesday and West Forsyth is well represented.

The Titans have four players of the year in three sports — running back Caman Chaplin, Haegen Paschold was the offensive player of the year in boys soccer, Ryan Penaloza was the defensive player of the year in boys soccer, and Samantha McEachran was the girls tennis player of the year.

The Titans also had one coach of the year — Lauren Gillon of the girls volleyball team.

In football, West Forsyth finished 8-4 overall and 5-2 in the Central Piedmont 4-A under first-year Coach Kevin Wallace. Chaplin was the offensive stalwart all season with 2,255 yards rushing, 341 yards passing, and 33 touchdowns.

In addition to Chaplin making all-conference from West Forsyth, PJ Dean and Jalen Morris made it on offense. On defense, three Eldridge brothers — Daviare, Daviel and Davion — all made it. Caleb David also made it on defense.

The defensive player of the year in football is Jadon Blair of Mount Tabor, and the coach of the year is Todd Willert from East Forsyth.

The West Forsyth boys soccer team, led by Coach Jeffrey Williams, finished 20-1-2 overall and 14-0 in the Central Piedmont 4-A and well represented on the all-conference team. In addition to Paschold and Penaloza, Abiel Lopez, Alexis Pelaez, Grant Tally, Joshua Medel and Hayden Wolverton all made it.

Owen Kuhner of Reynolds was named co-defensive player of the year in soccer along with Penaloza. Dylan Collier from Parkland was named coach of the year.

In girls tennis, McEachran went undefeated and was named player of the year. Collin Ferebee of Davie County was named coach of the year.

Gillon was named coach of the year in volleyball after helping guide the Titans to an overall record of 18-9 and 10-4 in the conference. In addition to Gillon, Aurora Rosa, Hadley Lichty and Chloe Randell made all-conference in volleyball.

Also in volleyball, Jordan Smart of Reagan was named player of the year and Testimony Olubunmi of East Forsyth was named the defensive player of the year.

In boys cross-country, led by Coach Nathan Newsome, Shane Cornett made all-conference for the Titans. Tate Shore from Reagan is the boys runner of the year. The coach of the year is Matt Vera from Reagan.

Newsome also coaches the girls cross-country team at West Forsyth. Five girls runners from West Forsyth — Tatum Snow, Abby Reutinger, Lilly Baugh, LuLu Serang and Lillian Douglass — all picked up all-conference honors.

In girls cross-country, Chandler Welsh of Reynolds was named the girls runner of the year. Also, Mike Riley of Mount Tabor was named coach of the year.

Girls golf from the West Forsyth is led by first-year Coach Debra Troxell and the team had five golfers — Paige Sidney, Sadie Mecham, Sally Toalson, Katherine Perdue and Mackenzie Taylor — make all-conference.

Ellie Acrey from Reagan was named the girls golf player of the year and Jay Allred from Reagan was named girls golf coach of the year.
